Josh Nashed launched Nexus Athlete Advising in 2023 after spending a decade in DI & professional baseball as both a player and coach. After finishing his pro career with the Cleveland Indians, Josh spent 4 seasons coaching at Saint Mary’s College in the West Coast Conference where he was promoted on 3 different occasions. In 2021, Josh became the youngest full time assistant coach in the country at the Division I level, and a year later was named the recruiting coordinator at SMC.
In his first two full seasons leading the Gaels pitching staff, Saint Mary’s produced 6 MLB Draft picks on the mound including 3 top-10 round selections; good for 1st in the West Coast Conference and the best two-year span in Saint Mary’s program history. Gaels pitchers racked up a whopping $2.42 million in draft signing bonuses during that span.
Josh played collegiately at San Jose State University and received his masters degree in Sports Management from Minot State University.
Jimmy Meuel joins Nashed Athlete Advising after a 17-year college coaching career. Jimmy’s robust coaching resume features stops at the DI, DII, DIII & NAIA levels at 9 different colleges.
His stops include: San Jose State, University of San Francisco, UC Davis, UC San Diego, SF State, Art U, Lewis & Clark, Willamette, & Menlo College.
Jimmy also specializes in college planning on the academic side as an academic counselor.
Freddy Smith joins Nexus after making Division I coaching stops at CSUN, Georgia State, and Hawaii. His coaching resume also includes an impressive run as a Head Coach in the highly touted Northwoods League, where he led the Willmar Stingers to the highest winning percentage (.697) out of any team from 2022-2024, earning him NWL Manager of the Year honors in 2024.
Freddy’s impressive collegiate playing career included four straight seasons without missing a game at shortstop between El Camino College and CSUN. In 2016, Freddy posted a .314 batting average and finished 2nd in the Big West Conference with 75 hits.
